The confessional pop of pronoun is the brainchild of Brooklyn singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alyse Vellturo. Growing up in Boston, Vellturo learned how to play piano, guitar, and drums, and began writing and recording her own songs in her early teens. However, after graduating from the Berklee College of Music with a music business major, she moved to New York in 2012 to pursue a career managing independent labels. Eventually, she began making music again, and the end of a long-term relationship in 2015 spurred her to write and record a set of songs in her bedroom.
