Sun Kil Moon was formed in 2002 by former [A=Red House Painters] frontman [A=Mark Kozelek]. SKM is comprised of longtime Painters' drummer [A=Anthony Koutsos], drummer [A=Tim Mooney] (of [A=American Music Club] fame), and bassist Geoff Stanfield (of Black Lab), as well as a string trio from the San Francisco Conservatory.
